Add it from the App Store
Approving the install creates everything for you — your account, your business, your first widget and its app key. There is no separate sign-up form, and no password to invent: from then on, one click inside your Shopify admin takes you into the full dashboard.
If you already have a Text Drift account under the same email, the store attaches to it instead of making a second one.
Turn on the app embed
Your dashboard hands you a link straight into the theme editor with the embed ready to toggle. Because it is a proper Shopify app embed rather than a pasted snippet, it keeps working when you switch themes, and it disappears cleanly if you ever uninstall.
Running an older theme that doesn't support embeds? The classic snippet is still there as a fallback.
Point it at your storefront
It crawls your store and keeps the text — product pages, shipping policy, returns, FAQ. Then add the things a storefront never says out loud: which items run small, what "in stock" really means this month, when you stop shipping before a holiday.
Add the phone number that should receive lead alerts, and you're done.
